Australia’s best-known brands have been put to the test, with Aussies voting on those they trust the most in a comprehensive new survey.

The survey compared 183 companies across seven categories, with some surprising results.
“Ultimately what earns them lasting trust, long-lasting trust, is doing right by their customers time and time again,” Canstar’s Sally Tindall said.
The winners were NRMA Insurance, HCF Insurance, Aussie Broadband, Macquarie Bank, Australian Retirement Trust, Red Energy and Aldi.
But trust can be lost quickly, with some of Australia’s biggest brands dogged by scandal.
Pandamart has faced criticism for selling dangerous goods, as has Temu, while Optus suffered over its major calls outage.
“The brands that are in trouble are the ones that consistently, over time, screw up,” consumer psychologist Adam Ferrier said.
When asked about brands they don’t trust, one person singled out Jetstar, while another praised clothing retailer TK Maxx.
Australia’s most trusted companies aren’t the biggest, but their customers say they are the best, praising their reliability and service.
In Aldi’s case, consistently low prices ranked highly.
“They’ve made a promise, they keep that promise, they deliver it time and time and time again,” Tindall said.
